[Poll #1544227]
Sarah Connor
versus
Catwoman
Poll will be open until Tuesday, March 30. Have fun!
West Shore alumni, I hate you. (Ok, that's untrue.) But just LOOK at this!
SUNLINK's library collection data for West Shore's library collection versus Merritt Island's.
Now really. That hurts my heart.

Date: 2010-03-28 07:35 pm (UTC)Also, I'm not sure if my mom disliked any of the librarians in recent years... the divine Mrs. Thomasson was at the helm for most of my years there (after a rather stern woman left) and I don't really know the new ones. So you have a better memory than me it this department!
Also, ALSO, this is just further proof that you would have fit right in at West Shore. We could have carpooled! Such fun. :D But you're already friends with a bunch of West Shore people already, so it's just like you went there but didn't have to do any of the schoolwork. Honorary West Shore student! ;D

Date: 2010-03-28 07:52 pm (UTC)A lot of collection development is deselection, too...I think MI's current collection indicates that maybe a lot of older books just haven't been weeded out. As you point out, the age of the schools is also a big factor. However, I will never NEVER understand why so many schools keep outdated nonfiction books around. It's a real problem. PLUS you'd think that Brevard's schools would be all over current science and math texts, since...you know...NASA and all.
I shouldn't really bitch, though. MI is still a good school, and Brevard overall is one of the state's best school districts.
(I'm just bitter that I didn't go to West Shore and bask in the academic awesomeness. :D)
